    Irish Brown Soda Bread {Wheaten Bread}

A traditional Irish soda bread recipe that soaks in the flavor of beer. The dough is a mixture of butter, flour, baking soda and yeast.

“Irish Brown Soda Bread {Wheaten Bread}” is a type of bread that has been made for centuries. The difference between “wheaten bread” and “soda bread” is the addition of baking soda to the mix.

    Irish Brown Soda Bread {Wheaten Bread}

Brown Soda Bread from Ireland (also known as “Wheaten Bread”) is a rich fast bread prepared with whole wheat flour and bran, and topped with old-fashioned oats. Another tasty quickbread to try is my Beer Bread.

    Brown Soda Bread from Ireland

Brown Soda Bread from Ireland, also referred to as Wheaten Bread or Brown Bread, is crusty and hearty bread. It pairs well with foods from soups to stews to cheeses to just a layer of salted butter. Yes, it can be fun to eat on St. Patrick’s Day, but this bread can be enjoyed year-round!

    Ingredients in Bread

Wholemeal flour is used in a traditional Irish brown bread. I used whole wheat flour with some additional bran for structure and earthiness since we didn’t have access to wholemeal at the time.

Bran: Bran is a good source of fiber. It also aids digestion and cardiovascular health.

Leavening Agents: This bread is a quickbread, which means it doesn’t need yeast to rise. In this recipe, however, both baking soda and baking powder are used. To give the bread its rise, the baking soda interacts with the buttermilk.

Buttermilk: A common component in Irish soda bread recipes is buttermilk. Make your own homemade buttermilk if you don’t have any on hand.

Use an egg that is at room temperature for the best results.

Oats: Use rolled oats, often known as old-fashioned oats. They’ll be strewn on top of the bread before it goes into the oven. Oatmeal, like bran, offers a slew of health advantages, from aiding weight reduction to being high in antioxidants.

How to Make Brown Soda Bread from Ireland

To make this Brown Soda Bread from Ireland, first, whisk together flour, bran, salt, baking soda, and baking powder in a large bowl. Next, in a second bowl, combine the buttermilk and egg. Then, make a well in the flour mixture and pour in the egg and buttermilk mixture. Use a wooden spoon to gradually incorporate the wet and dry ingredients together.

Knead the dough just until it’s cohesive after incorporating the liquid and dry components. Make sure not to over-knead the dough; this will result in rough bread. (If the bread is too sticky, add a teaspoon of flour at a time until the proper consistency is achieved.) Place the bread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper once it has been lightly kneaded. Make a disk out of the dough (about 2 inches high).

After the bread dough has been pressed flat, cut a deep ‘x’ across the top of the dough with a knife (approximately 3/4 inch deep). On top, strew the oats. Preheat oven to 375°F and bake for 35-40 minutes. When a toothpick put into the center of the loaf comes out clean or the internal temperature reaches 180°F, the loaf is done. Before cutting and serving, allow the bread to come to room temperature.

How to Serve Brown Soda Bread from Ireland

Irish Soda Bread is more than a St. Patrick’s Day delight. It may be consumed at any time of year. With only a bit of butter, it’s delectable. Alternatively, toast the bread and spread it with jam for a great breakfast. The bread may also be used as a sandwich bread or as a supper side dish.

Wrap the bread in plastic wrap and keep it at room temperature for 2-3 days. Allow the cooked bread to cool fully before freezing. Wrap with plastic wrap and store in a freezer-safe zippered bag after that. Make sure the freezer-safe container is labeled and dated; the bread may be stored for up to two months.

What’s the Difference Between Irish and Brown Soda Breads?

There are some similarities between Irish Soda Bread and Brown Soda Bread from Ireland {Wheaten Bread}. Neither loaves of bread use yeast to rise and they both are made with buttermilk reacting to baking soda. This chemical reaction was important in Ireland, where the wheat grown is so soft, it doesn’t work well with yeast.

There are, however, a number of distinctions. The taste is one distinction; Irish soda bread is sweeter, more akin to a scone, and baked with white flour. Brown bread, on the other hand, has a nuttier taste and is more flavorful. It’s normally prepared with wholemeal flour, but for this recipe, I used whole wheat flour and bran.

What Is the Purpose of Cutting a Cross on the Top of Soda Bread?

Yes, scribing a cross on the top of the soda bread will help keep the grains in place. It also enables heat to penetrate the bread when baking, allowing it to expand. But, did you know that the cross has some legend attached to it?

Some believe that carrying a cross will keep the devil at bay and protect you. It may also represent thanksgiving and breaking bread, which is made simpler by cutting it into four quadrants. So get together with your friends and family and bake some brown soda bread!

    Lemon Crumb Bars

Lemon Crumb Bars are a simple, old-fashioned recipe for an easy dessert to make with ingredients that you probably already have on hand. They’re the perfect lemon treat!

Lemon Crumb Bars are a delicious dessert that is easy to make. The cake mix makes this recipe super easy, and it tastes amazing. Read more in detail here: lemon crumb bars with cake mix.

    Lemon Crumb Bars

Bars with Lemon Crumbs are a sweet treat with a Filling: Lemon and taste sandwiched between two layers of oatmeal dough. They’re one of the most delicious lemon desserts I’ve ever tasted! If you like lemon treats, don’t miss out on my Lemon Bars and Lemon Brownies!

    Bars with Lemon Crumbs

When life gives you lemons, make these Bars with Lemon Crumbs! They start with the oat crust from my Apple Cream Cheese Bars (without the cinnamon). And then the oatmeal layers are separated by a Filling: Lemon that you can taste in every bite. There is a fantastic fusion of texture and flavor in these bars… they are unlike any other lemon dessert on my website!

    Lemon-Crumb-Bars

    Ingredients in Bars

This dish is divided into two parts: the oatmeal layers and the Filling: Lemon.

Quick-cooking oats should be used. Quick oats are more processed than traditional oats, allowing them to cook more quickly.

Sweetened Condensed Milk: When purchasing sweetened condensed milk, read the labels carefully. This recipe does not call for evaporated milk.

Lemon Juice: For the finest flavor, use freshly squeezed lemon juice from roughly 5 lemons. We tried this recipe using bottled lemon juice, but the taste was different. That is something I will address later.

Add a teaspoon of lemon zest to the filling for even more lemon taste in each mouthful.

    1650738133_657_Lemon-Crumb-Bars

Making the Crumble Topping (and the Crust!)

The first step is to make the crust, which will be baked for 12-15 minutes and then cooled before adding the filling. Combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, baking soda, and baking powder to form the crust.

Pour the melted butter over the ingredients and stir until it’s crumbly, but don’t overdo it!

This is crucial: measure out 2 cups of crust for the topping and put aside. Pour the leftover crust into a 9×9-inch baking dish that has been lined. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown, pressing it firmly to the bottom of the pan. While you’re making the filling, set the crust aside.

How to Store Bars with Lemon Crumbs

Bars with Lemon Crumbs can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 2 days. If you store them in the refrigerator, they will last up to 5 days. You can freeze the bars for up to 3 months.

Bottled Lemon Juice vs. Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice

As I previously indicated, we tried these snacks twice: first with freshly squeezed lemon juice and again with store-bought juice. When tasted side by side, the bars produced with freshly squeezed juice came out on top by a wide margin. Of course, there is always that one odd man out who prefers the bottled juice.

When compared to freshly squeezed juice, the bottled juice has a stronger artificial lemon flavor. The bars are still lemony and yummy if you just have bottled juice.

    Japanese Milk Bread Rolls

Japanese milk bread rolls are a traditional Japanese recipe that originated in the Nagasaki prefecture. They have wheat flour, sugar, eggs and butter added to plain white bread dough. After baking the loaf is rolled into long cylinders then cut into slices before being served with jam or chocolate sauce on top of them.

“Japanese Milk Bread Rolls” is a recipe for bread rolls. The bread rolls are sweet and soft, with a rich flavor that comes from the milk. They’re perfect for breakfast or as a snack.

    Japanese Milk Bread Rolls

Rolls of Japanese Milk Bread are incredibly soft and fluffy dinner rolls that melt in your mouth and last longer than regular dinner rolls. For another great, more soft handmade roll experience, try my Hawaiian rolls. Yes, I have the Garlic Butter Milk Bread Roll version of this incredible dish!

    Rolls of Japanese Milk Bread

Well, there are dinner rolls and then there are these Rolls of Japanese Milk Bread. These are a step above regular rolls because of the pillow-like softness that is the result of the Tangzhong Concoction, which I will explain in more detail later. All you need to know at this point is that these rolls are super moist, soft, and delicious and are a must-add to your list of bread recipes.

    Japanese-Milk-Bread-Rolls

    Ingredients for Rolls

The yeast combination, Tangzhong Concoction (the secret to the super-soft rolls), and dough are the three components of this recipe.

Use active dried yeast and warm water (about 110°F) to make the yeast. Water that is too hot will kill the yeast; water that is too cold, on the other hand, will not activate it.

Tangzhong Combination: This is a milk, water, and flour mixture (similar to a roux) that is added to the remainder of the components in the recipe.

Dough: For the greatest results, make sure all of the ingredients, especially the milk, eggs, and butter, are at room temperature.

    1650648188_108_Japanese-Milk-Bread-Rolls

    What exactly is Tangzhong?

When added to yeast dough, Tangzhong is an Asian method that helps bread become very soft and remain longer (plus keep soft). To make a thick slurry that will be added to the dough, milk, water, and a little flour are boiled together.

When the starch in the combination is cooked, it gelatinizes, allowing it to absorb or trap more water. Furthermore, when the starch is cooked with water, the liquid will be retained throughout the kneading, baking, and chilling operations. As a consequence, when you touch the rolls, they bounce back and remain soft for longer.

    1650648189_654_Japanese-Milk-Bread-Rolls

    Tangzhong: A Step-by-Step Guide

The secret to these supper rolls is the starchy gel combination. In a saucepan over medium-low heat, combine milk, water, and flour to create tangzhong. Whisk together the ingredients until they begin to thicken. Remove the pan from the heat after it begins to thicken and continue to whisk until a thick paste develops. It may seem to take a long time, but it will eventually happen!

Pour the gelatinous liquid into a bowl and let aside to cool slightly before using in the dough.

    1650648190_620_Japanese-Milk-Bread-Rolls

    Dough for Bread Rolls

After you’ve created the tangzhong, it’s time to make the rolls. To begin, dissolve the yeast in warm water in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook attachment. Allow time for it to blossom or grow frothy and bubbling.

Add the flour, milk, sugar, salt, one egg, and the cooled Tangzhong Concoction when the yeast has been active. Mix on low speed for approximately 5 minutes, or until the dough begins to come together. If the dough is still too moist, add a tablespoon of flour; if it is still too dry, add a splash of milk. I didn’t need to add any flour or milk to the dough when I tried the recipe.

Add a tablespoon of butter at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition of butter, with the mixer remaining on low. Make a ball out of the dough and set it in an oiled basin. Allow the dough to rise for approximately an hour, or until it has doubled in size.

    1650648191_318_Japanese-Milk-Bread-Rolls

How to Store Rolls of Japanese Milk Bread

These rolls will keep soft and fresh for up to 4 days at room temperature because to the retained moisture from the tangzhong. Allow the rolls to cool fully after baking if you wish to freeze them. Then freeze the rolls for up to 3 months in an airtight container. Allow them to defrost in the refrigerator when ready to eat. Warm them up in the microwave for a few minutes before serving.

Is it possible to make the dough ahead of time?

Yes! You may certainly prepare a portion of the recipe ahead of time and freeze the dough until ready to bake the rolls. Up to the second ascent, follow the directions. Place them in a freezer-safe container before they rise a second time. Allow the rolls to come to room temperature before baking them, then follow the baking directions.

    1650648192_636_Japanese-Milk-Bread-Rolls

Is it possible to make these rolls without using a springform pan?

This recipe was made in a 9-inch springform pan, but you may use any other pan of equal size. Because it has higher edges, a loaf pan might work. If you’re going to use a baking dish, make it a show-stopper (with higher sides). Tangzhong not only softens and springs the rolls, but also causes them to rise slightly higher than conventional rolls.

Can these rolls be made in a bread machine?

Yes! You may knead the dough in a bread machine with the Tangzhong Concoction added to it.

    Mixture of Yeast

    • 1 tablespoon dried active yeast
    • 14 cup warm water (about 110°F)

    Tangzhong Concoction

    • 4 tablespoons milk (whole)
    • a couple of teaspoons of water
    • 2 tblsp flour (all-purpose)

    Dough

    • 212 cup all-purpose flour (312.5 g)
    • 12 cup whole milk (122.5 g)
    • 14 cup granulated sugar (50g)
    • 1 tsp. salt (kosher)
    • 2 big room-temperature eggs (divided)
    • 3 tablespoons softened unsalted butter
    • 1 teaspoon of water

    Mixture of Yeast

    1. Combine yeast and water in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook attachment. Allow it blossom while you finish the rest of the ingredients.

    Tangzhong Concoction

    1. Combine milk, water, and flour in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat. In a large mixing bowl, combine all of the ingredients and whisk regularly (but not vigorously). Remove from heat as it begins to thicken and continue to whisk until a thick paste develops. It may take some time for the mixture to thicken, but once it does, it occurs rapidly (about 2 minutes). Fill a small bowl halfway with the mixture and put it aside to cool.

    Dough

    1. To the Mixture of Yeast, add flour, milk, sugar, salt, 1 egg, and the Tangzhong Concoction. Mix on low speed until the dough starts to come together (about 5 minutes). If the dough is too wet, add flour (1 tablespoon at a time). If it is too dry, add a little extra milk.

    2. Add a spoonful of butter to the mixer while it’s still on low. Mix until everything is well combined. Rep with the rest of the butter (1 tablespoon at a time).

    3. Place the dough in an oiled basin and roll it into a ball. Cover with plastic wrap and set aside to rise for 1 hour in a warm environment (or until doubled).

    4. Using nonstick cooking spray, coat a 9-inch springform pan.

    5. Punch the dough down, turn it out onto a floured surface, and divide it into 8 equal-sized pieces when ready (about 3 ounces each).

    6. Working one at a time, press down on the dough portions slightly (but firmly and evenly) and roll the ball beneath your hand in a circular motion. Keep the dough centered in your palm by using the cupped sides of your hands. You may need to knead the dough for a while before it comes together and most of the lines and folds are integrated into the dough, resulting in a smooth dough ball.

    7. Place the rolls in the prepared pan, spacing them out evenly.

    8. Cover and let it rise until it has doubled in size (about 30-45 minutes).

    9. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

    10. In a separate bowl, whisk together the remaining egg and water until smooth and blended.

    11. Brush the egg wash over the tops of the rolls using a pastry brush.

    12. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown on top. (The cooked rolls should have an internal temperature of 190°F.) Enjoy!

The “milk buns” is a type of bread roll that is popular in Japan. It has a sweet taste and an airy texture. The dough used to make these rolls is made with milk, sugar, eggs, butter, and flour.

    • In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, oats, Soda (baking), and salt. Gradually add to the wet Ingredients while beating on low until just combined. Mix in the M&Ms.

    • Because the batter will be thick and sticky at this stage, refrigerating the dough for at least 2 hours is suggested (but 3 hours is better). Alternatively, you may freeze the batter for 1 hour.

    • Preheat the oven to 350°F when you’re ready to bake the cookies. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line two cookie sheets with parchment paper.

    • After chilling, the dough will resemble playdough and should not be sticky. Using 2 tablespoonfuls of dough, roll into 2-inch balls. Place the dough balls onto the prepared sheets for baking at least 2 inches apart. Do not press down on the dough. In between batches, place the dough into the refrigerator to keep it cold.

    • Bake for 10-12 minutes. The cookies will have a very soft center, but once cooled, they will set and the inside with be soft and chewy. Allow the cookies to cool on the sheets for baking for 5-10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

    Ingredients in Cookies

Room Temperature Components: When baking these cookies, using room temperature ingredients (butter, shortening, eggs) can help you get the best results. At 65°F, butter is at room temperature. If you forget to take it out of the refrigerator, chop it up into little pieces and let it sit out instead of putting it in the microwave to soften it.

Any fat or oil that is solid at room temperature is referred to as shortening (hydrogenated vegetable oil). Shortening is what you’ve either heard about or seen in the form of a large can of Crisco. It has a long shelf life and may be kept at room temperature. It’s difficult to make substitutions with shortening because it’s all fat. If you must substitute for shortening, lard is the best option because it is also 100% fat. When substituting lard with shortening, use 2 tablespoons less lard per cup of shortening.

Cornstarch: Cornstarch holds the huge cookies together while keeping them moist.

Chocolate: For a Twix-inspired cookie, we found that milk chocolate worked best, although semi-sweet chocolate can do in a pinch.

    1649711695_205_Twix-Inspired-Cookies

    Caramel (store-bought vs. homemade)

In my testing, this turned out to be the most crucial aspect of the recipe. I was curious to test how store-bought compared to handmade. It didn’t work! It doesn’t taste anything like Twix caramel, and the cookie has a distinct flavor profile as a result.

If you have to buy caramel sauce, be sure it’s not caramel syrup (the kind that pours easily and is drizzled over ice cream). When using store-bought sauce, use a little less than you would if making it from scratch, and freeze the cookies after adding it so the caramel solidifies before covering with chocolate.

This isn’t truly “homemade” caramel since I began with caramel pieces. When reproducing the Twix taste profile, however, this was the greatest choice. You may also use individually wrapped caramels; just be sure to unwrap them first. The quantity required would be the same, 11 oz.

How to Make Cookie Recipes Inspired by Twix

Make the caramel sauce while the cookies are cooling. Combine the caramel pieces, heavy cream, and salt in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals until smooth, stirring after each 30 seconds.

Using around 1-2 teaspoons of the caramel sauce, drizzle it over each cookie. It should be thick, but not so thick that it spills over the edges of the biscuit. Melt the milk chocolate chips after you’ve covered the cookies with the caramel. On top of the caramel, sprinkle roughly a half-teaspoon of chocolate. With the back of a spoon or an offset spatula, smooth it out.

    How to Keep Cookies Safe

Refrigerate the cooked cookies in an airtight container for up to a week. Between layers, I prefer to place a piece of parchment or wax paper. However, I don’t believe you’ll need to keep the cookies since they won’t last long! That’s right, they’re that fantastic!

    Cookies

    • 12 cup (1 stick, 113g) softened butter
    • 12 cup shortening (102.5g)
    • 1 cup granulated sugar (200g)
    • 2 big room-temperature eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 3 cups all-purpose flour (375g)
    • cornstarch (2 tblsp.)
    • 1 tsp. salt (kosher)
    • 12 teaspoon powdered baking soda

    Topping

    • 1 unwrapped bag of caramel bits or caramel candies (11 ounces)
    • a couple of teaspoons of heavy cream
    • a quarter teaspoon of kosher salt
    • 1 cup chocolate chips (milk)

    Cookies

    1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Set aside a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

    2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, shortening, sugar, eggs, and vanilla using a handheld mixer.

    3. Add the flour, cornstarch, salt, and baking powder to the butter mixture. Mix until all of the ingredients are combined.

    4. Spread the dough out onto a prepared baking sheet, approximately 2 inches apart, using a 14 cup (or 2 scoops of dough with a 2 tablespoon scoop). (For each cookie sheet, I normally place 6 cookie dough balls.) Flatten each ball of dough with the bottom of a glass to a thickness of 14-12 inches. (If using two 2 tablespoon scoops, mix the dough scoops to make one big cookie.)

    5. For a softer cookie, bake for 12 minutes; for a harder cookie, bake for up to 14 minutes.

    6. Remove the cookies from the oven and place them on a wire rack to cool while you make the caramel.

    Topping

    1. Combine the caramels, heavy cream, and salt in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds at a time, stirring after each, until smooth.

    2. Using a spoon, smear 1-2 teaspoons of caramel onto the cookies. (Reheat the caramel in the microwave if it hardens.)

    3. Add chocolate chips to a medium microwave-safe bowl. Melt for 30 seconds at a time, stirring after each interval, until smooth.

    4. Place roughly a spoonful of melted chocolate on top of each biscuit after the caramel has set. Enjoy!

    Easter Hot Chocolate Bombs

These are the perfect way to make your Easter egg hunt extra special. You can put a spoonful of these in each basket for an added surprise!

The “hot cocoa bomb” is a chocolate covered marshmallow that is dipped in white chocolate and then rolled in sprinkles. They are often served at Easter time.

    Easter Hot Chocolate Bombs

White chocolate eggs are filled with Malted Chocolate Milk Powder and marshmallows and placed in a mug with hot milk for a wonderful cup of hot cocoa. I also offer my famous Hot Bombs of Chocolate in a conventional round form (which is a little more customisable).

Hot Bombs of Chocolate for Easter

In the colder months, I like my typical Hot Bombs of Chocolate, but I wanted to try something new for Easter. Malted Chocolate Milk Powder and marshmallows are used to fill the eggs. The malted milk powder is what gives them their Easter-like flavor.

When the bombs are filled with hot milk, they ‘explode,’ releasing the hot chocolate mix and marshmallows. You’ll have a luscious and tasty cup of white hot chocolate after stirring it!

    1649621887_566_Easter-Hot-Chocolate-Bombs

Ingredients for a Hot Chocolate Bomb

The milk powder and the white Bombs of Chocolate are the two key components of this recipe.

Can I tell you what makes my hot cocoa bombs stand out from the rest? Malted Chocolate Milk Powder. Chocolate milk powder created from scratch. I added malted milk powder to my own chocolate milk powder mix. And it’ll give your hot chocolate bomb the richest taste!

Malted Milk Powder is a fine light-yellow powder with a mellow, nutty taste and a little sweetness. If you don’t have any on hand or aren’t a fan, leave it out.

White Chocolate: For the greatest melting results, go for high-quality white chocolate chips. Ghirardelli white chocolate chips are good quality and convenient.

Tiny Marshmallows: I used pastel-colored little marshmallows, but any mini marshmallow would do.

Hot Bombs of Chocolate: How to Make Them

I have a video on how to create hot Bombs of Chocolate in my original Hot Bombs of Chocolate article if you want to watch them being produced.

Malted Chocolate Milk Powder is made by combining chocolate and malted milk powder.

Combine the malted milk powder, sugar, cocoa powder, and a bit of salt to produce the powder. In a mixing dish, combine all of the ingredients. Alternatively, you may puree them in a food processor or shake them in a jar with a cover (of course). If you aren’t going to use the powder right away, keep it in an airtight container in a cold, dry location until you are.

    White Chocolate Melting

The chocolate for the Hot Bombs of Chocolate must be heated before being poured into the molds. The double-boiler approach is my preferred method. This approach prevents the chocolate from being scorched and ensures that the softly melted chocolate is smooth and beautiful. This procedure does not need the use of any sophisticated kitchen appliances.

Fill a saucepan 1/2 full of water with the white chocolate chips to melt them. Over low heat, bring it to a gentle simmer. Find a heat-safe bowl (glass or stainless steel) to place in the pot next. Make sure the pot’s bottom does not come into contact with the water. The chocolate chips will be melted by the steam.

Add the chocolate chips to the heat-safe dish last. Stir the chocolate chips with a rubber spatula over low heat until they are melted and smooth. Fill the molds with the chocolate. However, do not pour the water out of the pot. In a minute, you’ll utilize a variant of this strategy.

If you must melt the chocolate chips in the microwave, do it in 15-second increments, stirring in between. Take cautious not to overdo it.

When creating them, you may use milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate.

    1649621889_373_Easter-Hot-Chocolate-Bombs

    Putting the Molds Together

Before Putting the Molds Together, first, line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Then, place a wire rack on top of the lined baking sheet. This will be used to catch any chocolate drippings from the molds. Fill each chocolate mold with a heaping spoonful of melted white chocolate. Use the spoon to evenly spread out the chocolate into each mold, making sure to get up the sides.

Turn the mold over onto the wire rack on the baking sheet that has been prepared. Place the molds in the freezer for 10 minutes or the refrigerator for 20-25 minutes, until they are firm. Once the chocolate has set, carefully remove the half-spheres and lay them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (or just a clean, flat surface).

    1649621889_279_Easter-Hot-Chocolate-Bombs

    Putting together Hot Cocoa Bombs

It’s time to get the bombs ready to put into a cup with hot milk now that the molds are complete and the Malted Chocolate Milk Powder is prepared! 1 tablespoon Malted Chocolate Milk Powder and one tablespoon (8 or 9) small marshmallows in three half-spheres

Melt the rims of the top half of the molds a little to seal them onto the bottom halves. Place the other three molds, seam-side down, on a baking sheet to accomplish this. Place the baking sheet over a low-heat saucepan of heated water. This will simply melt the rims enough to seal them.

Cover the Molds for Chocolate’ filled halves with the top halves. To make sure there were no fingerprints on the chocolate, I wore gloves. In a cup, place a white chocolate bomb. Pour roughly 1 1/2 cups boiling milk over the bomb slowly. The chocolate will begin to melt, releasing the Malted Chocolate Milk Powder and marshmallows to create a warm cup of white chocolate hot cocoa.

To decorate the bombs, just melt some of the chocolate that was dripped on the parchment paper and sprinkle on some sprinkles! You may, of course, make them as ornate as you like. Have a good time with them!

Make only as many Bombs of Chocolate as you’ll need. They should be used immediately or within 24 hours after being kept at room temperature.

Do I Have to Use Egg Molds for Hot Bombs of Chocolate for Easter?

Nope! You are free to use whatever circular shape you choose. I bought Easter Egg Molds on Amazon, but the colorful marshmallows and malted milk powder may be used in practically any form to make “spring.” Especially if you decorate the cocoa bomb with colored sprinkles or chocolate drizzle.

I have a video here if you have any questions about how to make these Easter Hot Cocoa Bombs.

    Malted Chocolate Milk Powder

    • 12 cup malted milk powder (39g)
    • granulated sugar, 2/3 cup (133g)
    • 13 cup cocoa powder (39g)
    • 1 kosher salt pinch

    Bombs of Chocolate

    • 1 cup white chocolate chips (182g)
    • 6 tbsp chocolate milk powder (distributed)
    • 3 tblsp tiny marshmallows (distributed)
    • 1 chocolate bomb mold made of silicone

    Malted Chocolate Milk Powder

    1. Combine the malted milk powder, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt in a large mixing basin using a whisk.

Using a Double Boiler to Melt Chocolate

    1. Fill a medium saucepan with water close to the top. Over low heat, bring the water to a gentle simmer.

    2. Place a heat-safe bowl (glass or stainless steel) on top of the saucepan of simmering water, leaving a space between the water and the bowl’s bottom.

    3. Toss in the white chocolate chips in the mixing bowl. Reduce the heat to low and mix the melted chocolate chunks with a rubber spatula until smooth. Remove the chocolate dish, but save the water in the saucepan for later use.

    Molds for Chocolate

    1. Using parchment paper, line a baking sheet. Add a wire rack on the top.

    2. Add a heaping spoonful of the melted chocolate to each of the six Molds for Chocolate. Use the spoon to spread the chocolate up the sides of each mold. Make sure the entire inside of each mold is evenly coated with chocolate.

      1649621892_282_Easter-Hot-Chocolate-Bombs

    3. Turn the mold upside down onto the rack on top of the parchment-lined baking sheet. Any leftover chocolate will drop onto the paper, where it may be re-melted and utilized later if required.

    4. Chill the molds in the refrigerator for 20-25 minutes, or until they are firm. Alternatively, you might put the molds in the freezer for 10 minutes. Line a second baking sheet with parchment paper while the molds are hardening.

      1649621892_223_Easter-Hot-Chocolate-Bombs

    5. Once the chocolate cups have hardened, gently take them from the mold and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

    Assembling Hot Bombs of Chocolate

    1. Gently press the sides of the egg mold onto a heated surface, such as a saute pan over low heat on the stove, while wearing gloves to avoid fingerprints. Simply press for a few seconds to smooth off all of the edges. Return the baking sheet to the oven.

      1649621893_518_Easter-Hot-Chocolate-Bombs

    2. 1 tablespoon chocolate milk powder and 1 tablespoon (8-9) small marshmallows in each of the three halves

      1649621894_551_Easter-Hot-Chocolate-Bombs

    3. Place the other three quarters on a different baking sheet, seam-side down. To partially melt the rims of the molds, place the sheet on top of a saucepan of heated water over low heat.

    4. Seal each full chocolate half by covering it with an empty half.

      1649621894_192_Easter-Hot-Chocolate-Bombs

    5. Add more melted chocolate, sprinkles, and other candies as desired. For greatest effects, use right away or within 24 hours. Allow to cool to room temperature before using.

    6. Pour a chocolate bomb into a cup to create hot chocolate. Slowly pour 112 cups hot milk over the explosives, stirring constantly. Take a drink and relax!

    Chocolate Chess Pie

Chocolate Chess Pie is a rich, sweet pie with chocolate filling and an oatmeal-crumb crust. It’s ready to eat in no time at all so it can be whipped up for any occasion!

Chocolate chess pie is a type of dessert that combines chocolate and pie. It is made with a chocolate crust, filling, and topping. The most popular version consists of buttermilk.

Pie with Chocolate Chess is a fudgy chocolate pie filling with a flaky crust that will please all chocolate fans! Try my Chess Pie if you want something more sweeter!

    Pie with Chocolate Chess

Many chess pies add cornmeal, but in this Pie with Chocolate Chess, I did not use it. The filling is thick enough, almost to the point of it being a brownie consistency. Sprinkle some confectioners’ sugar on top or add a dollop of whipped topping. It starts with an unbaked crust that can be store-bought, or you could make your own homemade pie crust.

    Chocolate-Chess-Pie

    Ingredients for Pie

You may use a store-bought pie dough, but I recommend making your own pie crust. If you follow the recipe exactly, you’ll end up with two crusts; reserve one to use in another dish, such as my Chocolate Pecan Pie.

Cocoa Powder: Use unsweetened cocoa powder of good quality. Cocoa from the Dutch method might also be used.

Evaporated Milk: Evaporated milk is a super-concentrated milk that aids in the creamy smoothness of the dessert filling. It’s not to be mistaken with sweetened condensed milk, which has been sweetened with sugar. In recipes, they should not be used interchangeably.

Garnish with a little dusting of confectioners’ sugar on top of the cooked pie. Then finish it off with some homemade whipped cream! Because this is a SWEET pie, both are optional.

    1650145036_712_Chocolate-Chess-Pie

Is it necessary for me to prepare the pie plate?

I don’t do anything to my pie dish since the crust should come off easily after baking and cooling. When creating a handmade crust, I also don’t dust my pie plates. The crust itself should have enough butter and flour to keep it from adhering to the plate. When using store-bought, I do sometimes coat a pie pan with non-stick spray.

How to Make Pie with Chocolate Chess

In this recipe, the first step is to roll out the pie dough into a 12-inch circle and set it in a deep-dish pie plate. Fill the pie crust with the chocolate pie filling and bake it.

Turn off the oven, leave the pie in the oven, and open the oven door just a crack once it has cooked for the specified time. Allow 20-30 minutes for the pie to cool in the oven.

The top of the pie will gradually sink back down during this time. Allowing the pie to cool in the oven allows the structure to firm and support itself.

    1650145037_328_Chocolate-Chess-Pie

Can I Freeze Pie with Chocolate Chess?

Yes! The pie may be frozen for up to three months when it has fully cooled. Place the pie in a freezer-safe container after wrapping it with plastic wrap. Make sure the container is labeled and dated. Allow it to defrost in the refrigerator before serving.

    1650145039_879_Chocolate-Chess-Pie

What is the origin of the name Chess Pie?

As far as I’m aware, this pie has nothing to do with the game of chess! The name, on the other hand, is a bit of an enigma. It’s possible that it comes from a baker declaring that it’s ‘Jes’ pie (Just pie). It might also be the result of preserving the pie in a pie chest (without pronouncing the letter ‘t’).

    • 2 big room-temperature eggs
    • 1 evaporated milk can (5 ounces or 2/3 cup)
    • 1 teaspoon extract de vanille
    • sprinkling sugar (confectioners’ sugar)
    • garnish with whipped topping
    1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

    2. Roll out the pie crust into a 12-inch circle on a lightly floured board. Transfer the dough to a 9-inch pie dish with care. To make your chosen form, pinch the edge of the pie dough.

    3. Combine sugar and cocoa in a large mixing dish. Whisk everything together until it’s smooth.

    4. Combine the butter, eggs, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl. Continue mixing until everything is fully incorporated.

    5. Fill the prepared pie crust with the filling. Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until mostly set (some jiggle is okay). Turn the oven off, crack the oven door open, and chill the pie in the oven for 20-30 minutes. The top of the pie will softly fall/sink back down during this time.

    6. Allow to cool fully after removing from the oven.

    7. Confectioners’ sugar or whipped topping might be sprinkled on top.

    Equipment

    • 3 basins for mixing

    • muffin pan for small muffins

    • 1 Mixer

    • 1 spatula made of silicone

    Ingredients

    • 12 cup vegetable shortening
    • 12 cup softened butter
    • a third of a cup of granulated sugar
    • 34 cup brown sugar, packed is a kind of sugar that is used
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 2 eggs, big
    • flour (212 cup)
    • 1 teaspoon Soda (baking)
    • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
    • 30 Cadbury Creme Eggs in Miniature unwrapped or solid chocolate eggs

    Frosting: Green Buttercream

    • 14 cup vegetable shortening, solid
    • 14 cup unsalted unsalted butter (at room temperature)
    • 2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
    • 1 teaspoon of milk
    • 12 teaspoon vanilla extract (pure)
    • a sprinkle of salt
    • 50 drops green food coloring (more or less depending on desired shade)
    • 1 cup small jelly beans, various

    Instructions

    • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray a mini-muffin pan with cooking spray and set aside.

    • In a mixing dish, cream together butter, shortening, both sugars, and vanilla extract.

    • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, Soda (baking) and salt.

    • Add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture in a slow, steady stream.

    • Wrap a little less than a spoonful of dough around one little Cadbury egg until it is fully coated. After wrapping the egg, roll it around in your palms to ensure that it is equally distributed. If you use more than a tablespoon of dough, the dough will spread out over the surface of the pan as it bakes.

    • Place the muffins in the muffin tray that has been prepped.

    • Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for 9-12 minutes, or until golden brown.

    • Allow 15-20 minutes for the cookies to cool in the pan before twisting them out. Gently twist the cookie with your fingers to extract it. IMPORTANT: If the cookie seems to be too soft or is breaking apart, wait 2 minutes before attempting again. After the cookies have been somewhat cooled, carefully pull them out of the muffin cups if they have been greased well enough. Allowing the cookies to cool fully in the pan will cause them to adhere to the bottom, making them even more difficult to remove.

    • Allow for thorough cooling before icing.

    Frosting

    • Serve with jelly beans on top.

    • Cream the shortening and butter together in a mixing dish until smooth and creamy. Mix in the vanilla extract.

    • Scrape down the sides of the basin as required as you add the powdered sugar one cup at a time. The frosting will seem dry after all of the powdered sugar has been applied.

    • Mix in one tablespoon of milk, scraping down the sides as required, until light and fluffy.

    • Gradually add as many drops of food coloring as you like until you have the appropriate green hue.

    • Fill a piping bag halfway with frosting and a Wilton Tip #74. Using a pastry bag, pipe grass onto each cookie cup, then top with 3-4 jelly beans.

    Easter Hot Chocolate Bombs

The perfect chocolatey treat for the holidays, these Easter Hot Chocolate Bombs are easy to make and will be gone in a flash.

These hot cocoa bombs are perfect for the holidays. They’re easy to make and they look so cute sitting in a glass bowl on your table.

    Easter-Hot-Chocolate-Bombs

    1649621890_630_Easter-Hot-Chocolate-Bombs

Hot Bombs of Chocolate for Easter are white chocolate eggs filled with Malted Chocolate Milk Powder and marshmallows that are put into a mug with hot milk for a delicious cup of hot cocoa.

    Malted Chocolate Milk Powder

    • 12 cup malted milk powder (39g)
    • granulated sugar, 2/3 cup (133g)
    • 13 cup cocoa powder (39g)
    • 1 kosher salt pinch

    Bombs of Chocolate

    • 1 cup white chocolate chips (182g)
    • 6 tbsp chocolate milk powder (distributed)
    • 3 tblsp tiny marshmallows (distributed)
    • 1 chocolate bomb mold made of silicone

    Malted Chocolate Milk Powder

    1. Combine the malted milk powder, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt in a large mixing basin using a whisk.

Using a Double Boiler to Melt Chocolate

    1. Fill a medium saucepan with water close to the top. Over low heat, bring the water to a gentle simmer.

    2. Place a heat-safe bowl (glass or stainless steel) on top of the saucepan of simmering water, leaving a space between the water and the bowl’s bottom.

    3. Toss in the white chocolate chips in the mixing bowl. Reduce the heat to low and mix the melted chocolate chunks with a rubber spatula until smooth. Remove the chocolate dish, but save the water in the saucepan for later use.

    Molds for Chocolate

    1. Using parchment paper, line a baking sheet. Add a wire rack on the top.

    2. Add a heaping spoonful of the melted chocolate to each of the six Molds for Chocolate. Use the spoon to spread the chocolate up the sides of each mold. Make sure the entire inside of each mold is evenly coated with chocolate.

      1649621892_349_Easter-Hot-Chocolate-Bombs

    2. 1 tablespoon chocolate milk powder and 1 tablespoon (8-9) small marshmallows in each of the three halves

    Easter Brownie Bars

A family favorite for Easter, these brownie bars are easy to make and a little on the unhealthy side. But with chocolate chips, white sugar, butter and eggs in every bite you can’t beat that! These go well as an after-dinner treat too.

The “easter brownie bites” are a delicious treat that are perfect for Easter. They are made with the same ingredients as a traditional brownie, but they’re smaller and more manageable. These bars will be the perfect addition to your Easter feast.

A layer of fudgy brownies is topped and baked with a colorful Cheesecake topping in these Brownie Bars for Easter. It’s a basic brownie and Cheesecake combo, but it’s brightened up with some Easter-themed colors! If you like this, you should definitely try my Brownie Bottom Cheesecake.

    Brownie Bars for Easter

There’s no such thing as too many brownies or Cheesecake desserts. So why not combine the two for yet another delectable dessert? My brownie recipe was adapted from my French Silk Brownies. The brownies were then covered with a Cheesecake topping that featured a kaleidoscope of bright and springy hues, making it ideal for Easter!

    Easter-Brownie-Bars

    Ingredients in Bars

The brownies and the Cheesecake are two delicious pleasures in one dessert. Both are great on their own, but you can have the Cheesecake and the brownies at the same time!

Room Temperature Ingredients: When baking this delicacy, using room temperature ingredients (particularly butter, eggs, and cream cheese) will help you get the greatest results.

In the brownies, use Dutch-process cocoa. It gives them a more savory flavor and a velvety texture. And the cocoa’s quality does important.

Food Coloring: Food coloring comes in a range of forms, from liquid to gel to paste. Choose the colors and food coloring you wish to use for this dish. Just keep in mind that the gel or paste forms are considerably more concentrated, so you won’t need as much as the liquid version.

Easter Brownies: How to Make Them

As the brownies are baking for the first time (make note of this in the instructions so you can plan your time accordingly!), mix together the Cheesecake mixture and pour it equally into four bowls. Here is where you can have fun with colors! Make each bowl of Cheesecake into the color you desire.  Yes, these are Brownie Bars for Easter, but if you want to enjoy these after or before the holiday, just adjust the colors!

After 12-15 minutes, remove the brownie pan from the oven. Then, using the various colors of the Cheesecake, pour them on top of the brownies to make a beautiful collage. Bake for 28-30 minutes, or until the Cheesecake has set. When the edges of the Cheesecake are gently pushed in and golden brown, it’s ready.

Allow the bars to cool to room temperature after removing them from the oven. Finally, place the bars in the refrigerator for 3-4 hours to cool. When they’re done, eat them right away. Alternatively, top with a scoop of whipped cream and some Easter chocolates!

    1. Allow the bars to cool fully before serving.
    2. Place the bars on a platter after removing them from the pan (cut or uncut). Place the Cheesecake in the freezer for approximately an hour, uncovered.

    Brownies

    • 12 cup all-purpose flour (186g)
    • 13 cup (42g) cocoa powder (Dutch-process)
    • 12 teaspoon powdered baking soda
    • a quarter teaspoon of kosher salt
    • 4 big room-temperature eggs
    • 2 cups granulated sugar (400g)
    • 34 cup (112 sticks, 170g) room temperature butter
    • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract

    Layer of Cheesecake

    • 2 packages (8 ounces each) room temperature cream cheese
    • 1 cup granulated sugar (200g)
    • 2 big room-temperature eggs
    • 4 different hues of food coloring (or gel)

    Brownies

    1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Use GOOP or parchment paper to line a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.

    2. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing basin. Whisk together all of the ingredients until they are well combined.

    3. Beat the eggs, sugar, butter, and vanilla together in the bowl of a stand mixer or in a large mixing basin with a hand-held mixer until smooth.

    4. Add the flour mixture to the mixer while it is turned off. Mix on low until all of the ingredients are fully incorporated.

    5. Bake the brownies for 12-15 minutes, or until the brownings are just beginning to set, in the preheated baking dish. (They will not be fully cooked.)

    Cheesecake

    1. While brownies are baking, prepare the Layer of Cheesecake. In the bowl of a stand mixer with a paddle attachment, beat cream cheese, sugar, and egg on medium-high speed until smooth.

    2. Pour the batter into four separate bowls.

    3. Add 2-3 drops of food coloring to each bowl, or as needed to get the desired hue.

    4. Spoon/dollop the various colors of cheesecake over the heated brownies at random intervals. On top of the brownies, you’ll have a colorful mosaic.

    5. Return to the oven for another 28-30 minutes, or until the cheesecake is set. The borders of the cheesecake will be slightly drawn in and golden brown when it’s done, but the middle will still jiggle somewhat.

    6. Allow the cheesecake to come to room temperature before placing it in the refrigerator for 3-4 hours to cool.

    7. Enjoy! Refrigerate the bars in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
