Circus Animal Cookie Rice Krispie Treats

A circus animal cookie is a treat that looks like an ordinary Rice Krispie Treat, but it has been shaped into the face of a different type of animal. It’s usually made with oatmeal or semolina and chocolate chips for fun. The ingredients are mixed together in one bowl and then formed into shapes before being baked to perfection! This recipe makes enough cookies for about 8-10 servings

Animal cookie desserts are a great treat for anyone with a sweet tooth. This recipe is simple and easy to make, and the ingredients are cheap.

Rice Krispie Treats with an additional splash of color are called Circus Animal Rice Krispie Treats. Embedded within and on top of chewy rice cereal bites are little bits of frosted animal cookies. These snacks are ideal for children and those who are still children at heart since they include a beloved kid cookie, marshmallow mixture, rainbow sprinkles, and a pink sugar drizzle.

Animal Circus Cookie Crispy Rice Treats

Today I’m merging two dessert favorites from my youth, circus cookies and rice krispies, into one simple dish. This family-friendly dessert is perfect if you enjoy the flavor of the traditional foods but want to prepare something with a bit extra flair.

    • Folded within were crushed cookies.
    • Sprinkles of holiday nonpareils!
    • A nice finishing touch would be a pink and white drizzle.
    • simple no-bake recipe

At your next birthday celebration or bake sale, how great would they look on the dessert table? Absolutely cute

Ingredients for Animal Circus Cookie Crispy Rice Treats

    What am I lacking?

The recognizable components of the traditional rice krispie treat recipe are there, along with a few modifications, in Circus Animal Rice Krispie Treats. You’ll need the following.

    • If you’ve never heard of circus animal cookies, they’re just animal crackers covered in white chocolate and sprinkles!
    • Make sure the marshmallows are fresh.
    • Use a generic brand of popped rice cereal instead of Rice Krispies.
    • I advise using unsalted butter in this dish.
    • The tiny, circular sprinkles are called rainbow nonpareils.
    • To melt and drizzle over the bars are white chocolate chips.
    • If you’d rather have your white chocolate plain, you may omit the food dye that is red.

A baking dish of crispy cereal treats with colorful cookies and sprinkles.

    Why can’t I create them?

One of the simplest circus animal cookie desserts to prepare is this.

Create cookie crumbs in step one.

In a food processor, pulse the circus animal cookies a few times. Crumbs and bigger cookie chunks ought to be among what’s left.

    Rice Krispie Treats, step two.

Now combine your tablespoons of butter and marshmallows in a stovetop saucepan. Until they are well blended, stir often. Crushed cookies, cereal, and a little amount of sprinkles should all be added to the saucepan. Blend well. In a baking dish that has been buttered, gently press the Rice Krispie mixture.

In the microwave, melt your white chocolate chips. Fill a ziploc bag with half of the melted chocolate. To make the leftover chocolate pink, add a few drops of food coloring!

Then put the pink chocolate in a different bag. Slice a corner off of each bag, then sprinkle the rice krispie treats with the melted chocolate. Sprinkle the leftover nonpareils right away.

Slice, serve, and enjoy the chocolate when it has set.

Drizzled white and pink chocolate on top of colorful rice krispie treats.

How should Rice Krispie Treats be stored?

These dessert treats shaped like circus animals, like other Rice Krispie Treats, should be kept at room temperature in an airtight container.

I do not suggest freezing or cooling them. Fast-hardening cold crispy rice snacks lose their ideal chewy texture when frozen.

    Tips & Tricks

    • Cook with nonstick utensils! It is considerably simpler to combine the goodies in a nonstick saucepan and to clean up afterwards. I use a sauce pan from Anolon, which I previously reviewed.
    • Not too strong of a push. The completed bars will taste denser and firmer the harder you press the goodies into the pan.
    • Apply baking spray liberally! By nature, Rice Krispie Treats are STICKY. If you don’t want to spend your day scraping sticky sweets from a pan, don’t forget to complete this important step.

In the 1970s, when my mother prepared Rice Krispie Treats, she always followed the recipe exactly. Never add any garnishes, additions, or embellishments!

As a little child, I didn’t have any complaints about my favorite food, but as an adult, I prefer to be a bit more inventive. Equipment

    • weighing scales

    • spoons for measuring

    • Blender or food processor

    • 9 x 13-inch baking pan

    • a big nonstick pot

    • rubber spatula

    • sandwich bags, two

    • scissors

    • two little mixing bowls

    Ingredients

    • Circus Animal Cookies, 9 ounces
    • 1 kilogram of small marshmallows
    • 6 cups of cereal Rice Krispies
    • Unsalted butter, 4 tablespoons
    • split into 3 tablespoons, multicolored nonpareils
    • 3 teaspoons of sprinkles, split into colors
    • White chocolate chips, half a cup
    • food dye that is red

    Instructions

    • Prepare a 9 x 13-inch baking pan by spraying it with cooking spray.

    • Put all of the circus cookies in a food processor, and pulse it three to four times, just until the cookies are in tiny bits and crumbs. To sprinkle on top, save 1/2 cup of the cookie pieces.

    • Melt the butter and marshmallows in a big saucepan over low heat, stirring often.

    • Get rid of the heat. Rice Krispies, broken cookies, 1 tablespoon of nonpareils, and 1 tablespoon of sprinkles should all be added to the saucepan. Combine well after mixing. Add 1 tablespoon each of the nonpareils and the sprinkles before recombining.

    • With a rubber spatula, transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and smooth it out evenly.

    • On top, scatter the leftover cookie crumbs.

    • Place 1/4 cup of white chocolate chips in each of two small dishes. 30 seconds in the microwave. Stir until chocolate is creamy and smooth and chips are melted.

    • Put the contents of one bowl in a sandwich bag with a zipper closure. Drizzle the Rice Krispie treats with a little piece of one of the cut corners.

    • Put in a very tiny amount food dye that is red into the other bowl of melted white chocolate and stir. Add more food coloring until desired hue of pink is achieved. Do not add too much at first (as I did) because it will turn red and there’s no turning back at that point. If you find that the chocolate is becoming too thick to stir, add 1/2 teaspoon of the heavy cream and stir until smooth. You will not need to reheat.

    • Cut a little corner off of the pink chocolate bag, put it in a zipper-top bag, and sprinkle the pink chocolate in the opposite way as the white chocolate.

    • Add the last spoonful of sprinkles and nonpareils.

    • until set, let cool.

Summertime is peak popsicle season if you’re a parent or grandparent.

As soon as the weather warms up, I know we’ll need to fill the freezer with popsicles, even if it’s just a box of freeze pops, as well as rocky road ice cream and no-churn ice cream.

After all, there’s nothing like reclining with a popsicle after coming out of the pool on a hot summer day.

Even while I like sophisticated popsicles like roasted berry goat cheese popsicles, prosecco popsicles (for the grownups), and banana split popsicles, there are times when I simply want to keep it simple.

This summer, we’ve been making strawberry popsicles on a regular basis. They’re as simple to make as buying a box of popsicles, yet they’re now a top desire around here.

POPSICLES WITH STRAWBERRIES THAT ARE EASY TO MAKE AT HOME

Have you tried Outshine fruit popsicles before? They’re fantastic, but they’re also somewhat pricey.

They’re my favorite since they’re jam-packed with fruit. They have a fantastic texture that isn’t at all chilly.

Even while these homemade strawberry popsicles aren’t an exact replica of Outshine’s, the creamy, delicious feel is quite similar.

    1655480712_30_Strawberry-Popsicles-with-Greek-yogurt

Fresh, juicy strawberries are used to make these handmade popsicles. I also added some Yogurt from Greece to my peaches and cream popsicles to keep them creamy, give a little of acidic taste, and sneak in some protein.

To avoid sounding like “that mom,” I also like that they include just a smidgeon of honey rather than a slew of sugar. I don’t believe a lot of sugar is necessary since the Strawberries in season are sweet enough!

So, although my family thinks they’re a nice summer treat, I can rest easy knowing that they’re largely eating fresh fruit and a little amount of yogurt rather than something with a lot of added sugar.

Oh, and they’re really simple to make!

STRAWBERRY POPSICLES: HOW TO MAKE THEM

This strawberry popsicle recipe is a must-try if you have a lot of Strawberries in season on hand.

    You’ll need the following Ingredients:

Long ingredient lists have their time and place, but this recipe isn’t one of them. To prepare these popsicles, you’ll only need five easy Ingredients:

    • Strawberries in season
    • Milk
    • Yogurt from Greece
    • Honey
    • Extract of vanilla

    1655480714_547_Strawberry-Popsicles-with-Greek-yogurt

I have all of these items on hand at all times, particularly during the summer.

In fact, if you like yogurt and fruit for breakfast, these popsicles are a frozen treat version of that.

For the basis of this recipe, you’ll need 1 cup of strawberry puree. You’ll need roughly 2 cups of hulled and halved strawberries to make 1 cup of puree.

    1655480714_792_Strawberry-Popsicles-with-Greek-yogurt

Is it possible to use frozen strawberries?

If you are out of Strawberries in season or want to make these popsicles when strawberries are out of season, the good news is that you CAN make this recipe with frozen strawberries.

Simply defrost the frozen strawberries before pureeing them, then follow the recipe’s Instructions.

The final popsicles won’t have the same perfectly creamy texture as when they are made with Strawberries in season, but the flavor is still great and they are still the perfect summer treat!

    1655480715_250_Strawberry-Popsicles-with-Greek-yogurt

    You’ll need the following equipment.

A blender or food processor (to puree your strawberries) and popsicle molds are the two primary items you’ll need, in addition to measuring cups and a dish.

A 3.25-fluid-ounce popsicle mold is my favorite. This recipe will yield 6 popsicles if you use this size.

If you select a smaller or bigger mold, bear in mind that the recipe may yield more or fewer popsicles and will require less or more time to completely freeze.

    1655480716_800_Strawberry-Popsicles-with-Greek-yogurt

    Creating this dish

Simply mix together the strawberry puree, milk, yogurt, honey, and vanilla to produce the popsicle foundation.

Pour the mixture into the popsicle molds after adding the chopped strawberries. Make sure the molds aren’t overflowing!

Add your popsicle sticks and freeze the popsicles for at least 4 hours, however depending on your freezer, they may require longer time to properly set.

You’re ready to enjoy your homemade popsicles after they’ve completely frozen!

    VARIATIONS ON THE RECIPE

This dish may be altered in a variety of ways to fit dietary restrictions, food allergies, and personal tastes.

For a dairy-free version, use your favorite dairy-free milk and yogurt. Using a coconut-based milk and yogurt would be especially delicious with the Strawberries in season.

Use your preferred dairy-free milk and yogurt, and replace the honey with agave nectar or maple syrup for a vegan alternative.

    1655480717_940_Strawberry-Popsicles-with-Greek-yogurt

Try swapping the plain Yogurt from Greece with a flavored Yogurt from Greece, such as vanilla, honey, or strawberry.

And lastly, don’t limit yourself to just Creating this dish with strawberries! Sure, it’s a strawberry popsicle recipe, but that doesn’t mean you can’t try it with other fruits!

Use raspberries, peaches, mango, blueberries, or a mix of your favorite fruits in this recipe. Your creativity is the only limit!

Try these strawberry popsicles for your next pool party, summer movie night, or just as a refreshing treat on a hot day. They’ll be a hit with the entire family!

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup pureed strawberries (from about 2 cups hulled and halved Strawberries in season)
    • milk (six tablespoons)
    • ½ cup plain Yogurt from Greece
    • honey (two teaspoons)
    • ¼ teaspoon Extract of vanilla
    • ½ cup diced Strawberries in season

    Instructions

    1. Combine the strawberry puree, milk, yogurt, honey, and vanilla in a mixing bowl and whisk until smooth. Toss in the chopped strawberries and mix well.
    2. Fill popsicle molds with the mixture and add sticks. Allow for at least 4 hours of freezing time.

    Notes

    • This recipe can work with thawed frozen strawberries, but if you only have frozen berries, you may want to remove the chopped strawberries.
    • You may substitute a flavored Yogurt from Greece (such as vanilla, honey, or strawberry) for the plain Yogurt from Greece if you prefer.
    • Use your favorite dairy-free milk and yogurt to make a dairy-free variation. Use dairy-free milk and yogurt, and replace the honey with agave nectar or maple syrup for a vegan alternative.
    • The amount of time it takes to freeze depends on your freezer.

    Dirty Root Beer Float

If you haven’t had a dirty root beer float, this is the perfect time to try one. It’s like a brownie sundae for adults with ice cream and chocolate sauce on top of your favorite fizzy beverage. This recipe from A Spoonful of Sugar will have you licking those dishes clean in no time!

The “fireball root beer float” is a combination of chocolate ice cream and root beer. This drink is very popular in the United States, especially during the summertime.

The adult version of the famous summertime delicacy, the Root Beer Float with a Twist, is mixed with RumChata for an alcoholic kick. I like a good summer drink and have compiled a collection of Summer Drink Recipes.

Root Beer Float with a Twist

This delightful delicacy will make you feel (or at least behave) like a youngster once again! It’s a grown-up root beer float. It’s been spiked with RumChata, which adds a touch of sweetness and creaminess to the dessert. Use no-churn vanilla ice cream and homemade whipped topping to make the root beer float.

    1655150649_32_Dirty-Root-Beer-Float

    Ingredients

RumChata Cream Liqueur: Rum, cinnamon, and vanilla are used to make this cream-based liqueur. Baileys is a creamy liqueur that has a chocolate taste and is made with Irish whiskey. Baileys does, however, make a vanilla and cinnamon liqueur that might be used in a root beer float. If you like RumChata, you should try my Naughty White Russian as well.

Ice Cream: For the float, I used vanilla ice cream. In fact, a scoop of vanilla ice cream with a dash of RumChata is a delight in and of itself!

Root Beer: Use your favorite root beer brand, whether it’s normal or diet.

    1655150650_987_Dirty-Root-Beer-Float

What Is the Taste of RumChata?

It’s a creamy, sweet alcoholic beverage with a smidgeon of black rum flavor. We relate it to the milk that remains in the bowl after eating Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal. Imagine that with your Root Beer float, and you’ve got something really wonderful!

    1655150651_708_Dirty-Root-Beer-Float

Is it OK if I use a different kind of alcohol?

Sure! If you don’t have RumChata on hand, you can still make this a boozy treat with some additional ingredients. Root beer schnapps, bourbon, spiced rum, or even vodka might be used.

This recipe for homemade hot fudge sauce is simple and tasty. It’ll be your go-to ice cream topping for the rest of the summer.

    1655143152_648_Homemade-Hot-Fudge-Sauce-Recipe

We temporarily lived with my great grandma, Lottie, when I was a child. She was a beautiful lady and a fantastic chef. I was only around 5 years old at the time, but I have strong recollections of our time together at her house.

I recall sitting at her dining room table for hours, painting with colors she kept in an old coffee can and a rotary phone that sat on her well maintained desk.

Her house was spotless, and I recall chuckling when she ordered me not to step on her davenport.

She had a drawer dedicated to her favorite baking utensils, and she even bought a set of tiny tools just for me. She’d use a babushka to gently tie my hair back and out of my face, then place a lump of dough in front of me.

We’d spend hours at the kitchen table spreading out dough and carving flawless circles out of it with the top of a glass. Then we’d fill, fold, and crimp each dough circle to make the most incredible pierogies.

We’d all get into the vehicle on summer afternoons and go to the ice cream shop.

I’ve always preferred caramel sundaes, but I recall sneaking nibbles of my father’s Tin Roof Sundaes, which were smothered in the most amazing hot fudge sauce. Elle can’t get enough of all things chocolate, despite the fact that I’ve never been a big fan of hot fudge.

She also loves ice cream in the summer, particularly when it’s covered with chocolate sauce, Reddi Wip, sprinkles, and, of course, a cherry.

This homemade hot fudge sauce should absolutely be on your summer bucket list, whether you’re out of the canned stuff or simply want a rich, chocolaty, handmade treat for your favorite ice cream.

HOW TO MAKE HOT FUDGE SAUCE AT HOME

Making your own hot fudge sauce is much simpler if you read my article on how to create caramel sauce.

    You’ll need the following Ingredients:

To create this dish, you’ll need the following Ingredients:

    • 2/3 gallon of heavy cream
    • 1/2 cup corn syrup (light)
    • 1/3 cup dark brown sugar, packed
    • 1/4 cup cocoa powder, Dutch-process, unsweetened
    • salt (1/4 teaspoon)
    • 6 ounces coarsely chopped bittersweet chocolate (not unsweetened)
    • 2 tblsp butter (unsalted)
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (pure)

If you bake often, you’re likely to have several of these items on hand. Let’s speak about the one component you may not have readily available: Dutch-process cocoa.

    1655143154_628_Homemade-Hot-Fudge-Sauce-Recipe

What is the difference between Dutch-process cocoa powder and regular cocoa powder?

Natural cocoa and Dutch-process cocoa are the two most common types of cocoa powder.

The acidity of cocoa powder has been reduced in Dutch-process cocoa, giving it a darker color and less bitter taste than natural chocolate.

Using Dutch-process cocoa in this recipe will help it get a deep, rich color while also avoiding any bitterness. It’ll be all chocolate, all the time!

    1655143155_473_Homemade-Hot-Fudge-Sauce-Recipe

    Creating this dish

You can prepare this hot fudge sauce recipe if you can mix things together and bring them to a boil. I’ll keep my word.

For this dish, I prefer to use a hefty pot. It will ensure that the sauce heats evenly and does not burn.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream, corn syrup, brown sugar, cocoa powder, salt, and half of the chopped chocolate. Bring everything to a boil, stirring constantly until the chocolate is melted.

    1655143155_219_Homemade-Hot-Fudge-Sauce-Recipe

Reduce the heat to medium-low and continue to cook, stirring periodically, for approximately 5 minutes.

Remove the sauce from the heat after 5 minutes and whisk in the butter, vanilla, and the remaining chocolate until creamy. The sauce will thicken a little and have a lovely finish.

Allow the fudge sauce to cool slightly before serving.

    1655143157_76_Homemade-Hot-Fudge-Sauce-Recipe

It’s basically a one-way ticket to being the coolest parent ever.

But don’t stop with the ice cream! For a really delicious morning treat, try it on top of Bisquick waffles or a stack of Boston cream pie pancakes.

It’s also delicious served on top of a piece of vanilla cheesecake or cheesecake bars.

You’re only limited by your creativity when it comes to this sauce!

    STORAGE

This dish must be kept in the refrigerator because to the dairy content.

Allow the sauce to cool fully before storing leftovers in the fridge for up to one week in an airtight container, such as a glass jar.

After chilling, the sauce thickens considerably, so you’ll probably want to reheat it somewhat. I suggest doing it in the microwave in 15-second intervals on low, stirring after each one, until it reaches your preferred consistency.

    1655143158_28_Homemade-Hot-Fudge-Sauce-Recipe

    Ingredients

    • 2/3 gallon of heavy cream
    • 1/2 cup corn syrup (light)
    • 1/3 cup dark brown sugar, packed
    • 1/4 cup cocoa powder, Dutch-process, unsweetened
    • salt (1/4 teaspoon)
    • 6 ounces coarsely chopped bittersweet chocolate (not unsweetened)
    • 2 tblsp butter (unsalted)
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (pure)

    Instructions

    1. Combine cream, corn syrup, brown sugar, cocoa, salt, and half of the chocolate in a medium, heavy saucepan over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly, until all of the chocolate bits have melted.
    2. Reduce heat to low and simmer for approximately five minutes, stirring periodically. Remove the pan from the heat and mix in the remaining chocolate, butter, and vanilla until smooth.
    3. Before serving, allow the sauce to cool.

    Notes

This recipe may simply be tweaked to generate different tastes. I used 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract, which gave the drink a delicate, smooth, minty taste.

To preserve, let sauce to cool fully before placing it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

    Lemon Crazy Cake

The Lemon Crazy Cake is a cake that has lemon filling in between layers of yellow sponge. This recipe was originally made for the young children at St. Josephs Day Care, but they were so well received by the other parents and teachers, it soon became one of their most popular treats.

The “vanilla crazy cake” is a vanilla cake with lemon filling. It’s very light and fluffy, and it has an amazing flavor.

Crazy Cake with Lemon is a lemon-flavored cake produced without the use of milk, eggs, or butter, and topped with a light and fluffy Buttercream with Lemon. You may also want to try my Chocolate Depression Cake!

    Crazy Cake with Lemon

The only strange thing about this incredibly delicious Cake with Lemon is that it can be made without milk, eggs, or butter. It’s also possible that it tastes amazing even without those things! It tasted like frozen lemonade in cake shape, according to one taster.

Despite the fact that the cake is created without eggs, milk, or butter, I topped it with a Buttercream with Lemon icing that does include butter.

    1654945627_967_Lemon-Crazy-Cake

    Ingredients for Cake

Lemons: Make sure you’ve got a couple of lemons on hand. Both the cake and the buttercream will need lemon zest and juice (if added). In this recipe, I used three lemons.

Buttercream: As previously said, the Buttercream with Lemon contains butter; nonetheless, it enhances the lemon taste of each mouthful.

    1654945628_651_Lemon-Crazy-Cake

What is the definition of a Crazy Cake?

Crazy Cakes, also known as Depression Cakes or Wacky Cakes, rose to prominence during the Great Depression. Ingredients like milk, eggs, and butter were difficult to come by at the time. That didn’t mean they couldn’t have sweets, however! As a result, the crazy cakes were created.

Is it possible to zest and juice the same lemons?

Yes, the same lemons may be used for both the zest and the juice. Before you juice the lemons, make sure you zest them first. Only utilize the yellow portion of the lemon while zesting it. The bitter component of the peel is the white part.

    1654945629_705_Lemon-Crazy-Cake

Can I color the cake with food coloring?

Sure! Add 2-3 drops of yellow food coloring to the cake mix if you want a bright yellow cake to fit the Cake with Lemon title.

Is It Possible to Make This Cake Without Buttercream?

Definitely! It’s wonderful on its own if you simply want a light Cake with Lemon.

    1654945630_223_Lemon-Crazy-Cake

How to Store Crazy Cake with Lemon

This cake may be kept at room temperature for up to 3 days in an airtight container. If you like, you may keep it in the refrigerator.

Can I Freeze Crazy Cake with Lemon?

Yes! The cake should be frozen before adding the buttercream and on the same day as it is made. Allow the cake to cool fully before proceeding. Remove the cake from the pan and cover it in plastic wrap securely. To prevent freezer burn, make sure no part of the cake is exposed. Finally, cover the cake with an aluminum foil sheet.

For optimal results, label and date the box and freeze the cake for up to a month. Allow 30 minutes for the cake to defrost at room temperature before removing the aluminum foil. It will take around 2-3 hours to defrost fully. The icing may be added after the cake has thawed.

Can I Make Crazy Cake with Lemon as Cupcakes?

Yes! Line a muffin tray with cupcake liners to transform this cake into cupcakes. Fill each liner approximately 3/4 of the way with the batter. Bake for 15-20 minutes at 350°F, checking for doneness after 15 minutes. When a toothpick pushed into the center of a cupcake comes out with a few crumbs but no moist batter, the cupcakes are done.

How to prepare cornbread in a cast iron pan

To begin, preheat your oven to 350°F and place a cast iron pan on the middle shelf. While you’re making the cornbread batter, warm the pan in the oven.

Brush the bottom and sides of the pan with melted butter once it’s heated. Handle the pan with caution; it will be quite hot. Pour the batter into the heated pan and bake until golden brown, about 20 minutes. Cornbread that is quick, simple, and tasty only takes approximately 25 minutes to bake!

What happens if I don’t have access to a cast iron skillet?

This jalapeo cornbread recipe may be made in any pan, not just cast iron. Instead, any oven-safe skillet or even a circular cake pan would suffice.

There’s no need to preheat a cake pan if you’re using it instead of a skillet. Simply brush the pan gently with butter, pour in the batter, and bake.

With cornbread, what should you serve?

This cornbread just screams to be served with a steaming hot bowl of chili! It would also go nicely with our 20-Minute Chili Casserole, which has just two Ingredients.

To add even more southwestern flavor to your handmade cornbread, make a batch of Ranch Fried Green Tomatoes and Texas Caviar (also known as Cowboy Caviar). It’s also a terrific option for any barbeque or picnic, since it goes well with smokey BBQ meals and meats of many types.

When served with our Chicken Tortilla Soup, you can’t go wrong. It’s also very simple since it’s cooked in the slow cooker! Serve with a dollop of sour cream on top.

A skillet with Jalapeño Cheddar Cornbread.

Is it possible to prepare it ahead of time?

Cornbread is best consumed the same day it is prepared. The cornbread will start to taste stale and hard after a day or two, so don’t make it too far ahead of time.

I bake it about an hour before serving to give it time to cool before slicing. If you have any leftovers, firmly cover them and eat them within two days.

    Grandma Jo’s Chocolate Sauerkraut Cake

Grandma Jo’s chocolate sauerkraut cake is a denser, less sweet version of the traditional German dessert. It dates back to at least 1713 and has been passed down from generation to generation by Amish cooks in Pennsylvania ever since.

The “the best chocolate cake recipe” is a delicious, easy to make dessert that will provide you with a moist and decadent chocolate cake. It’s also gluten-free!

Grandma Jo’s Cake with Chocolate Sauerkraut is a soft, delicious chocolate cake with a rich, creamy chocolate frosting on top. (If you’re a chocolate cake fan but can’t bring yourself to attempt this one, try my Best Chocolate Cake Recipe!) But who is Grandma Jo, exactly? She is the grandma of one of my friends. We went there for a visit and happened to be looking through a cookbook of her dishes. While thumbing through the recipe book, the sauerkraut chocolate cake caught my eye. So, of course, I had to put it to the test. I knew it belonged here after tasting it!

    Grandma-Jos-Chocolate-Sauerkraut-Cake

    Cake with Chocolate Sauerkraut

No, you did not misunderstand… This chocolate cake certainly has sauerkraut in it. “‘Sauerkraut Cake’ seems like some weird joke, but it is really genuine indeed,” according to TheOldFoodie.com. It was created in the 1960s in response to a request from the USDA Surplus Committee (particularly to school lunchroom managers) for suggestions on how to use up a big stockpile of canned sauerkraut.” Mrs. Geraldine Timms, a lunchroom supervisor, was credited with the idea.

I’m paying tribute to my friend’s Grandma Jo, who taught her the recipe. I like your innovation and imagination, as well as the taste of this delectable dessert.

    Ingredients for Cake

Sauerkraut: I’ll start with the most surprising item, sauerkraut. Before folding the sauerkraut into the batter, rinse it and coarsely slice it. You may also use a food processor to make it.

Components at Room Temperature: Using room temperature ingredients, particularly butter and eggs, makes a difference in the final cake result. It will have a light and fluffy texture.

Cocoa powder: For both the cake and the icing, I used Dutch-processed cocoa powder. Both have a deeper color and greater chocolate taste when made using Dutch-processed cocoa.

    1654883048_591_Grandma-Jos-Chocolate-Sauerkraut-Cake

What’s the Deal with Sauerkraut in Chocolate Cake?

I’m sure some people will be perplexed by the addition of sauerkraut to a chocolate cake. First and foremost, it adds moisture to the mixture, giving the cooked cake a little springiness. Second, the sauerkraut’s modest tanginess balances out the chocolate’s sweetness. Finally, you get a little texture out of it.

    1654883048_227_Grandma-Jos-Chocolate-Sauerkraut-Cake

Is it Possible to Taste the Sauerkraut?

Nope! You could offer this to those who don’t like sauerkraut and they wouldn’t even realize it was in the cake. They would, however, appreciate the cake’s luscious softness! The only thing they’ll notice is the cake’s mild texture, which is comparable to that of coconut flakes.

Is it possible to use regular unsweetened cocoa?

Although I used Dutch-processed cocoa in the cake and frosting, you may use plain unsweetened cocoa instead. The only difference would be that each would have a lighter hue and have a less robust flavor.

How to Store Cake with Chocolate Sauerkraut

This cake will keep for 2-3 days at room temperature. You may even keep it in the fridge for a few days longer. However, no matter where you put the cake once people start eating it, it won’t last long!

Can I Make Cake with Chocolate Sauerkraut in a Different Pan?

Yes! This recipe might be turned into a tiered circular cake. Bake for 25-30 minutes in two 8-inch round cake pans. (The original cake recipe was made this way.)

    1. Sift the confectioners’ sugar and cocoa together in a medium mixing basin. Remove from the equation.

    2. Cream butter in a large mixing basin until creamy. Then, three times, alternate adding the sugar mixture and heavy whipping cream to the creamed butter. (I used the whole 5 tablespoons of heavy cream.)

    3. Blend in the vanilla extract. Using an electric mixer, beat until light and fluffy. If required, add additional whipping cream or sugar to get the desired consistency.

    4. Over the cooled cake, spread the chocolate frosting.

With Lucky Leaf, you can bake and do more! Since 1949, this family-owned cooperative has given generations of home cooks with high-quality fruit products with a fresh fruit flavor and no high fructose corn syrup. My grandmother kept cans of Lucky Leaf on hand at all times so she’d never be without when it came time to make a great meal. I’ve learned to like them just as much and keep them in my pantry as well.

Lucky Leaf has appeared in a number of my dishes, including this No Bake Cherry Hot Chocolate Cheesecake. It’s a simple dessert that your family and friends will love. Who says hot chocolate can’t be enjoyed all year? I’m not one of them! Make this Patriotic Poke Cake to honor those occasions when you’re feeling patriotic. The cherry fruit filling hiding within and on top of the cake will delight everyone. And then there’s my drool-worthy Chocolate Covered Strawberry Dream Bars (if I do say so myself). Yeah. In a nutshell, it was breathtaking. Okay, that’s two words, but one isn’t enough to describe these bars. Believe me when I tell that you really must create them.

    What do I require?

    • crumbs from a shortbread biscuit If you like, you may use graham cracker crumbs or another cookie. The shortbread appealed to me since the biscuits were not too sugary.
    • butter that has not been salted
    • creme fraiche
    • Powdered sugar or confectioners’ sugar
    • almond extract in its purest form
    • Whipped Topping or my Stabilized Whipped Cream recipe

    • If desired, use a white chocolate bar to make chocolate curls.

The process of making a layered no bake cheesecake dessert.

What’s the best way to cook this simple cheesecake dessert?

    1. Lining an 8 X 8-inch baking dish with parchment paper or gently coating it with cooking spray is a good way to start. I prefer to use parchment paper to line my pan so that I can easily remove the whole dish out and cut it into pieces with a big knife.
    2. Microwave the butter, then grind the shortbread biscuits into tiny crumbs in a food processor or blender. Mix the crumbs into the melted butter until everything is well mixed. Place the mixture in the prepared pan and press evenly over the bottom and along the sides. To set, place in the freezer for at least 30 minutes.
    3. Put the creme fraiche, confectioners’ sugar, and almond extract into a mixing bowl. Beat until combined. Fold in 1 cup of the whipped topping.
    4. Dollop the cheesecake filling over the frozen crust and distribute it evenly to the pan’s edges.
    5. Place spoonfuls of the Lucky Leaf Premium Blueberry Filling or Topping over the cheesecake and gently spread them out.
    6. Set the remaining whipped topping over top and place in the freezer for at least two hours.
    7. Place the remaining Lucky Leaf Premium Blueberry Filling or Topping on top before serving, then scrape the white chocolate shavings over the top with a vegetable peeler.

Is it possible to prepare this meal ahead of time?

Yes! Aside from the fact that I don’t have to use the oven to prepare it, I also like that I can make it the day before a party to save time. Simply follow the Instructions and put it in the refrigerator overnight. Just before serving, sprinkle the white chocolate curls over top.

    Equipment

    • 2 mixing bowls, medium

    • 1 Mixer

    • 1 sheet of parchment paper

    • a baking pan that measures 18 x 8 inches

    • 1 spatula made of rubber

    • 1 spatula (offset)

    Ingredients

    • 12 cup shortbread cookie crumbs (you may substitute graham cracker crumbs or an other biscuit if you want)
    • 5 tablespoons butter that has not been salted
    • 8 ounces creme fraiche room temperature
    • 1 CUP CONFECTIONERS’ SUCTIONERS’ SUCTIONERS’
    • 1 ½ teaspoons almond extract in its purest form
    • 8 oz. whipped topping or 8 oz. of my Stabilized Whipped Cream
    • 21 ounces Premium Blueberry Fruit Filling or Topping from Lucky Leaf
    • 4 oz. white chocolate candy bar (optional) for chocolate curls

    Instructions

    • If desired, line an 8 X 8-inch baking dish with parchment paper. This will make it easier to pull the bars off the pan and cut them into squares equally. Alternatively, spray it with cooking spray.

    • In a medium microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter for 30 seconds. Cook for another 15 seconds or more, stirring constantly, until the cheese has fully melted.

    • With a rubber spatula, mix the cookie crumbs into the melted butter until fully incorporated. The mixture should be pressed into the prepared pan and evenly distributed to the edges. Place the pan in the freezer for at least 30 minutes to firm up.

    • Put the creme fraiche, confectioners’ sugar, and almond extract into a medium mixing bowl, and beat until well combined, scraping down the sides and bottom of the bowl as needed. Fold in 1 cup of the whipped topping with a rubber spatula until mixed.

    • Remove the crust from the freezer and spread dollops of cheesecake filling across it. Spread the cream evenly across the pan using an offset spatula.

    • Using 1 cup of the Premium Blueberry Fruit Filling or Topping from Lucky Leaf, place spoonfuls over the cheesecake and gently spread.

    • Cover with dollop after dollop of the remaining whipped topping or Stabilized Whipped Cream. Place for at least two hours in the freezer.

    • Place spoonfuls of the leftover blueberry fruit filling on top of the whipped topping and gently spread. Lift the parchment out of the pan to remove the bars.

    • Before serving, scrape chocolate shavings onto the top using a vegetable peeler.

    Notes

We’re freezing this recipe to set as opposed to refrigerating in my other Recipes for Dream Bars so that the whipped topping will be a bit sturdier when spreading the blueberry filling over it.

    Easy Sticky Buns

Is it time to abandon the yeast-based dough and take a stab at making sticky buns with this new baking method?

Easy Sticky Buns is a recipe for quick and easy sticky buns. The recipe includes puff pastry, which makes the process of making these buns much easier than if you were to use a traditional dough.

    Easy Sticky Buns

Crescent roll dough is filled with a cinnamon-sugar mixture, wrapped up, and baked in a nutty, sweet, buttery coating for Sticky Buns Made Simple. Try my Pecan Sticky Buns if you have more time and like baking from scratch.

    Sticky Buns Made Simple

This recipe is for you if you don’t have time to prepare sticky buns from scratch. It all begins with store-bought crescent roll dough (which I make from scratch!) The sweet, sticky taste and texture that you’d anticipate from a caramel roll follows. I couldn’t leave out the nuts, which are one of the ingredients that distinguishes sticky buns from caramel rolls. You won’t need to wait for the dough to rise, so you’ll be able to make a batch in no time. (Okay, in about 30 minutes…)

    Easy-Sticky-Buns-i-am-baker

    Ingredients for Sticky Buns

This dish has two parts: the topping and the buns.

Brown sugar, unsalted butter, and pecans are used to make the topping, which begins at the bottom of the pan.

Nuts: As previously noted, nuts are a staple of sticky buns. You may, however, leave them out if you like, or try the rolls with alternative nuts, such as walnuts or almonds.

Filling: The rolled-out dough is brushed and dusted with a buttery cinnamon-sugar filling. It’s just like a cinnamon bun!

    1649023623_930_Easy-Sticky-Buns-i-am-baker

    Topping for Sticky Buns

After the rolls are cooked and turned, the gooey topping, which begins at the bottom of the pan, becomes the gooey topping. The pecans provide a delicious bite to the rolls.

To prepare the topping, combine the melted butter and brown sugar in a mixing bowl. Pour the remaining mixture into the bottom of a 913-inch baking dish. Then, on top of the topping, sprinkle the chopped pecans. As you lay out the dough, set the pan aside.

    1649023625_200_Easy-Sticky-Buns-i-am-baker

How to Make Sticky Buns Made Simple

Now that the topping is in the baking dish, it’s time to assemble, cut, and nestle the rolls into it. Roll out the crescent roll dough tubes for this. Form one big sheet of dough from the rolled-out dough.

Then, on top of the dough, spread the butter. After that, evenly distribute the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture over the butter. Roll the dough into a log starting from the long edge.

Place each part of the roll onto the baking dish after slicing it into 12 equal-sized slices. Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top. Finally, turn the sticky buns over onto a large baking sheet or sheet pan after removing them from the oven. Warm the dish before serving.

    1649023626_723_Easy-Sticky-Buns-i-am-baker

What’s the Difference Between Caramel Rolls and Sticky Buns?

As I previously indicated, the nuts, most typically pecans, are a significant distinction between sticky buns and caramel rolls. What’s the difference between sticky buns and cinnamon rolls, you may wonder? Because cinnamon buns aren’t baked with caramel sauce, they don’t need to be flipped off of the pan. They’re usually glazed with cream cheese and don’t include any nuts.

Using Dental Floss to Slice Sticky Buns

After folding up all the deliciousness into rolls, slicing them into individual-sized rolls without smooshing them might be difficult. If the knife you’re using isn’t sharp enough, the rolls may end up squished before they’re cooked. Dental floss is a fantastic way to avoid frustration. Dental floss, to be precise.

If you’re going to use dental floss, make sure it’s plain (not flavored). Underneath the rolled-up rolls, slide a long strand of floss and wrap it around the roll approximately 2 inches in. To cut through the roll, pull. Repeat this process every two inches or so. Now go floss your teeth, but make sure you use a fresh piece of floss!

    Chocolate Ganache Made with Butter {VIDEO}

This chocolate ganache is so easy to make and the finished product tastes like a dream. Ganache can be served in many different ways, but this one is perfect for topping ice cream or cake. You’ll never want store-bought again!

This chocolate ganache is made with butter, so it’s not as rich and creamy. It’s still delicious. Read more in detail here: butter ganache without cream.

    Chocolate Ganache Made with Butter {VIDEO}

Chocolate Ganache with Butter is a rich and lustrous chocolaty topping, glaze, frosting, or filling created from semi-sweet chocolate warmed with butter. To pour this wonderful ganache on, try my perfect chocolate cake! If you like the classic, you can obtain my milk Chocolate Ganache here.

    Butter-based chocolate ganache

Ganache is often produced using chocolate and cream. It may be as thin or thick as you want it to be, depending on the chocolate-to-cream ratio. This ganache is produced without the use of cream and instead uses butter. A cup of semi-sweet chocolate and a stick of unsalted butter were used in this recipe. I like the depth of flavor it adds to all of my recipes.

    Chocolate-Ganache-Made-with-Butter-VIDEO

    Ingredients for Ganache

Semi-sweet chocolate chips were used in this recipe. They are neither very sweet or harsh. The ganache might alternatively be made using bittersweet chocolate, milk chocolate, or white chocolate.

As previously stated, butter is used in place of heavy cream in this recipe. I knew I had to use the finest quality butter since butter is one of just two components in the recipe, so I used unsalted Challenge Butter. Since 1911, Challenge butter has been churned fresh everyday from the freshest milk and cream from happy cows at family-owned farms.

    Without Cream, Make Chocolate Ganache

You can still create ganache if a recipe asks for it and you don’t have any heavy cream on hand. This recipe has just two ingredients, however instead of cream, it utilizes butter. Use the double boiler technique to produce the ganache for the richest and creamiest results. The use of a double boiler ensures that the chocolate does not burn and that the melted chocolate is smooth and beautiful. This method does not necessitate the use of any fancy kitchen appliances.

    1649076013_373_Chocolate-Ganache-Made-with-Butter-VIDEO

Melting Chocolate in a Double Boiler

Fill a saucepan partly full with water to create the ganache. Over low heat, bring it to a gentle simmer. Choose a heat-safe bowl (glass or stainless steel) to place in the saucepan. Make sure the pot’s bottom does not come into contact with the water. The chocolate will be melted by the steam.

In a heat-safe dish, combine the butter and chocolate. Stir the chocolate with a rubber spatula over low heat until it is melted and smooth. It’s possible to cube the butter to make it melt more evenly, but it’s not required. Combine the ganache with your favorite dessert, such as my Death By Chocolate Bundt Cake!

Is it possible to make ganache in the microwave?

Yes! Simply melt the chocolate and butter in a microwave-safe dish to prepare this in the microwave. Heat the ingredients for 30 seconds at a time, stirring after each 30 seconds, until completely melted. The ganache will still be tasty, but it will not be as glossy as it would be if it had been made in a double boiler.

    1649076014_13_Chocolate-Ganache-Made-with-Butter-VIDEO

    How to Keep Ganache Refrigerated

If you don’t use all of the ganache on or in your dessert, you may save it for another time. It may be kept in the refrigerator or even frozen. Cover the ganache bowl with plastic wrap to store it in the refrigerator. Refrigerate the plastic for up to 2 weeks after labeling and dating it.

Allow the ganache to come to room temperature by laying it out for approximately an hour when you’re ready to use it. You may also heat it in 20-second intervals in the microwave. Finally, you might soften it by using the double broiler approach.

    1649076015_101_Chocolate-Ganache-Made-with-Butter-VIDEO

What Is the Best Way to Freeze Ganache?

Make sure the ganache is in a freezer-safe, sealed container before freezing it for prolonged storage. Wrap plastic wrap around the container and then close it with the lid. Label and date the container once again; it will keep for up to three months.

When you’re ready to use the frozen ganache, store it in the refrigerator overnight to gently defrost. Then bring it to room temperature, microwave it for 15 seconds at a time, or use the double boiler technique. Do not return the thawed ganache to the freezer. Instead, keep thawed leftovers for up to a week in the refrigerator.
