Fruit scones are the finest kind of scones. It is true.
Every mouthful of these fresh Fruit Scones has a tender texture, the ideal amount of sweetness, and the taste of peaches and cream.
A simple technique to give your scones additional taste and a lovely flash of color is to add fruit to them. Since a few years ago, I’ve made raspberry scones sometimes. I had to try making a simple peach scone recipe as soon as peaches were in season.
The good news is that raspberries and peaches both work well with scones. I’m not sure which one I like!
Which ingredients will produce the ideal scones?
- Whole-wheat flour

- Salt

The secret to scones that stay soft even days after baking is that Cheese, cream. It also adds a very subtle hint of tang that gives the scones a perfect peaches and cream flavor.
This recipe for peaches and cream scones may not be to your taste if you like crumbly, dry scones. And that’s just OK!
I’m aware that many people like freshly baked scones with a texture more akin to a thick biscuit. I like mine soft, wet, and just a little bit sweet.
How should I prepare fresh Fruit Scones?
Remember to pit, peel, and dice your peach before anything else. White or yellow peaches may be used, but make sure the peel and pit are taken off.
Once the peach has been prepared, it’s time to prepare the dough and preheat the oven.
Sift flour, sugar, salt, and a baking soda into a large bowl.
With a pastry cutter, cut in butter and Cheese, cream into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
With a fork, combine the egg, milk, and fresh fruit until the mixture becomes soft dough.
Just enough flour should be added to prevent sticking when rolling or patting the dough into a circle that is approximately 1/2 inch thick on a lightly dusted surface.
With a 2-inch cutter, cut rounds; reroll and cut leftovers. Avoid over-kneading as you gather the little dough fragments with a bench scraper to make another circle.
I cut the dough for these scones using a 2-inch biscuit cutter, but I’ve also created scones by rolling out the dough into a circle and slicing them before baking. If you’d like, you could make these Fruit Scones that way.
You may also top the scones with a little dusting of turbinado sugar after the scone dough has been cut into slices. Then, space the unbaked scones approximately 2 inches apart on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. 12 minutes or until the top is just beginning to turn golden brown.
Before serving heated, transfer the scones to a wire rack and let them cool for a few minutes. However, chilled scones taste just as good!
