What do I require?
In theory, this dump cake can be made with just three Ingredients!
- Betty Crocker Super Moist Devil’s Food cake mix — We used Betty Crocker Super Moist Devil’s Food cake mix.
- Filling for cherry pie
- Butter
If you want even more chocolate, do what we did and top the cake with chocolate chips. It’ll be well worth it!
Tips for Dump Cake
- Prepare your pan by greasing it. Before adding the dump cake Ingredients, I like to spread a little room temperature butter over the bottom of the baking dish. This may be done on the inside of the butter wrapper. Baking spray or a little amount of canola oil may also be used.
- Adding chocolate chips. If you’re making Dump Cake with Chocolate Cherry Filling with chocolate chips, sprinkle them over the Filling for cherry pie BEFORE adding the chocolate cake mix. They’ll soften into the cherries perfectly as the dump cake bakes.
- Do not combine the components. Cover the top with pats of melted butter after sprinkling on the chocolate chips and cake mix. It’ll melt into the cake batter and make a beautiful top crust.
Is it possible to make dump cake ahead of time?
Yes, it is one of my favorite aspects of this dump cake recipe. The Cherry Chocolate Dump Cake may be prepared up to three days ahead of time! It’s delicious right out of the oven or a few days afterwards.
Is it necessary to keep chocolate dump cake refrigerated?
There’s no need to refrigerate this cherry dump cake if you’re serving it the same day it’s made. Simply leave it out on the counter until dessert.
The cake should be stored covered in the refrigerator for extended storage. To get the greatest flavor, eat it within 3-4 days.
