Is it Possible to Have a Margarita on a Keto Diet?
Because it’s strong in carbohydrates and sweet Ingredients, the conventional margarita recipe isn’t keto-friendly. A typical margarita cocktail has around 11 grams of total carbohydrates.
However, using low-carb and sugar-free components is the key to enjoying a tasty margarita while on the keto diet. As a result, you won’t be able to add juice or soda to your margarita.
This keto margarita recipe features just 3 grams of carbohydrates per drink, making it ideal for a low-carb diet.
What is the definition of a Skinny Margarita?
If you’re on a low-carb diet and really need a margarita, a guilt-free skinny margarita is the way to go. It’s a low-calorie, low-carb variant of the traditional margarita. Tequila, lime juice, sugar-free sparkling water, and sweetener are usually used.
Here’s Everything You’ll Need
You’ll need to gather a few items to create this keto margarita. If you want a slightly different margarita flavor, replace these components with equivalent ones. Here’s what you’ll require:
- Tequila. This kind of alcohol is minimal in calories and, best of all, completely carb-free. When selecting a tequila brand, double-check the label to ensure that it is produced entirely of blue agave.
- Sparkling water with no added sugar. This time, I used the Sparkling Ice orange mango sparkling water, but you may use whichever sparkling water you choose. Nonetheless, I suggest this brand since it tastes quite similar to regular sweet sparkling water and comes in a variety of flavors.
- Lime juice, freshly squeezed. Simply take a fresh lime and juice it on your own. For a keto margarita, avoid using store-bought lime juice.
- Sweetener. It’s crucial to utilize powdered sweetener rather than liquid sweetener. I used powdered monkfruit sweetener from Lakanto. However, as long as the sugar alternative is low carb, it’s OK (powdered erythritol, for instance).
In addition to the primary components, you’ll need salt that is coarse (chili lime salt or sea salt) for the margarita glass rim and a couple slice of limes to garnish this keto drink. Don’t forget about iced tea. I chose these ice trays because I like how ice balls look in my low-carb margarita drink.
To prepare this keto margarita, you’ll also need a cocktail shaker. If you like cocktails as much as I do, you’ll understand why this stainless steel shaker is such an excellent choice.
Keto Margaritas: How to Make Them
Making a slender and keto-friendly margarita cocktail isn’t difficult at all. This recipe will work for you even if it’s your first time preparing drinks at home.
So, after you’ve collected all of the essential components and set up your cocktail shaker, you can get down to business. To prepare this low-carb margarita, follow these steps:
- Make sure the margarita glass is ready. Simply sprinkle salt that is coarse on a plate, rub a slice of lime along the rim of the margarita glass, then dip the glass into the salt to evenly coat the rim.
- Shake things up a little. In a cocktail shaker, combine the ice, tequila, lime juice, and monk fruit powder. For around 10-15 seconds, give it a good shake.
- Pour the margarita into the glass. Fill the margarita glass with ice (or crushed ice if you like a cold margarita), then add the margarita mix from the shaker and the sugar-free sparkling water.
- Serve with a garnish. I like to rim the margarita glass with a piece of lime. You may, however, garnish your low-carb margarita cocktail with nearly anything if you wish; just use your creativity.
Serve the drink immediately away and take pleasure in it.
Enhance the Flavor
This keto skinny margarita recipe is quick and easy to make. However, if you want to amp up the taste, you may play with with the extra components. To add some more flavor to your keto margarita, consider adding the following Ingredients:
- Mint leaves. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes It will not taste like a typical margarita if you add fresh mint to your keto margarita, but it will still be unbelievably wonderful. Mint goes well with lime juice and adds to the overall taste of the beverage.
- Berries. Don’t get me started on how delicious strawberries or raspberries are in an ice-cold lime margarita.
- Jalapenos. If you want your drinks spicy, toss a couple jalapeño slices into the cocktail shaker with the keto margarita.
