BUFFALO CHICKEN SLIDERS AT THEIR BEST
Buffalo Chicken Dip is one of our favorite game-day or party snacks. In fact, I’m not sure I’ve gone to a party recently that didn’t include buffalo chicken dip in a large dish. And it always vanishes so quickly!
So I figured it was time to attempt making sliders with all of the flavors of this fan-favorite dip.
I don’t usually hit it out of the park on the first attempt, but with these sliders, I did, okay?
The creamy and spicy buffalo chicken in the center is wonderfully balanced, there’s enough of melty cheese, and the tops of the Hawaiian roll buns become deliciously crispy. We couldn’t get enough of these since they’re so flavorful and texture-packed.
BUFFALO CHICKEN SLIDERS: HOW TO MAKE THEM
These sliders are great, but they’re even better since they’re so simple to prepare!
You’ll need the following Ingredients:
To prepare Buffalo Chicken Sliders, you’ll need the following Ingredients:
- King’s Hawaiian rolls: These are the greatest slider buns, and the mild sweetness complements the hot chicken well. If your shop sells them, you may alternatively use genuine slider buns in their place.
- If you’ve been following me for a long, you’ll know that rotisserie chicken is one of my favorite shortcuts. It makes putting this dip together a breeze! You’ll need 3-4 cups of shredded chicken if you already have any on hand.
- Monterey jack cheese is my favorite for this dish, but you could also use cheddar or even pepperjack if that’s what you have or like.
- Buffalo wing sauce: The buffalo wing sauce adds heat and a characteristic buffalo taste to the dish.
- You may use store-bought or homemade ranch dressing in this recipe. If you choose, you might use blue cheese dressing instead.
- Cajun spice: For a little more fire and flavor, I like to add a little of cajun seasoning to my buffalo chicken dishes.
- Butter and Italian seasoning will be combined and spread over the tops of the rolls for a crispy, buttery finish.
Changing the degree of spice
The heat level is simple to modify to your desire, whether you like really spicy cuisine or you’re cooking this dish for your kids and need a gentler version.
Add additional cajun spice or a couple drops of your favorite spicy hot sauce to make these sliders even hotter.
Reduce the quantity of buffalo wing sauce and increase the ranch dressing, or eliminate the cajun flavor entirely.
Creating this dish
Begin by combining the buffalo chicken filling Ingredients. Combine the shredded chicken, buffalo sauce, ranch dressing, cajun spice, and salt & pepper in a mixing bowl.
Prepare your rolls now. Don’t separate the rolls; you want them to stay together for this.
To separate the tops from the bottoms, just cut the rolls in half with a big serrated knife in the same way you would a bagel.
Place the bottoms of the rolls, cut side up, in a greased baking dish. Sprinkle half of the cheese on top, then top with the chicken mixture and the remaining cheese.
Roll up the tops of the rolls and place them on top of everything. Brush the tops of the rolls with a mixture of melted butter and Italian spice.
Bake until the cheese has melted and the tops of the sliders are golden brown. It will take roughly 10-15 minutes to complete this task.
Now it’s time to serve and eat!
SUGGESTIONS FOR SERVING
Topping these spicy sliders with some of my quick coleslaw is one of my favorite ways to serve them. The contrast between the creamy slaw and the spicy chicken, as well as the crunch from the cabbage, is almost ideal!
Toss up some roasted broccoli or jo jo potato wedges with a large green salad and you’ve got yourself a whole dinner.
TIPS FOR GETTING THINGS DONE AHEAD OF TIME
You’re in luck if you’re cooking Buffalo Chicken Sliders for a party or game day gathering since the chicken may be completely prepared ahead of time.
Combine the chicken, buffalo sauce, ranch dressing, and spices in a mixing bowl. Refrigerate it for up to three days, or until you’re ready to assemble the sliders, in an airtight container or zip-top bag.
You may also freeze the chicken combination for up to 3 months in an airtight container. Allow it to defrost overnight before assembling the sliders when ready to bake.
These Buffalo Chicken Sliders are a crowd-pleasing party appetizer or a simple weekday supper. In any case, you’ll make everyone extremely pleased.
Ingredients
- 2 packets (12 count) of King’s Hawaiian rolls
- 1 shredded rotisserie chicken (about 3-4 cups shredded chicken)
- 8 oz. monterey jack cheese, shredded
- 12 CUP BUFFALO WING SEASONING
- 12 CUP RANCH SAUCE
- 1 tsp. cajun spice
- a quarter teaspoon of salt
- a quarter teaspoon of pepper
To make the icing:
- 3 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
- 12 teaspoon seasoning (Italian)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Using cooking spray, coat a large baking dish or a rimmed baking sheet. Remove from the equation.
- In a mixing dish, combine the shredded chicken and the mayonnaise. Buffalo sauce, ranch dressing, cajun spice, salt, and pepper are added to the pan. To blend, stir everything together.
- Instead of pulling the rolls apart, cut them in half with a big serrated knife like a bagel, removing the tops from the bottoms. Place the bottoms, cut side up, in the prepared baking pan.
- Half of the cheese should be equally distributed on the buns, followed by the chicken mixture. The remaining cheese should be sprinkled on top. Top with the tops of the rolls.
- Combine the melted butter and Italian spice in a small bowl. Brush the tops of the sliders with a brush.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes, until the cheese has melted and the tops have browned somewhat.
- Serve with coleslaw on the side or on the sliders if preferred.
Notes
- If preferred, 2 (9 count) packets of King’s Hawaiian slider buns may be substituted for the rolls.
- The buffalo chicken mixture may be made up to 3 days ahead of time and kept refrigerated in an airtight container until ready to assemble the sliders.
These buffalo chicken sliders are perfect for a party or game day! They are easy to make ahead, and they taste amazing. Reference: make ahead buffalo chicken sliders.
